: I have had a lot of back pain over the last few years, and my doctor finally told me his diagnosis: A Shitty Back . . .

: BMW offered an inflatable lumbar option on the E-34 seats, at least in '94.

: Can anyone tell me if they can be retrofitted? I mean, ANYTHING could be retrofitted given a thick enough wallet. So the real question is can they be retrofitted, and if so, is the cost reasonable (for a BMW)?

BMW offered a lumbar option at time of ordering the vehicle only. If you try to retrofit it will cost you in the range of 1200-1500 dollars, it is a big deal to make to install the lumbar support.
Best buy a good back support. If you want more details you can call Mark Wilkins at Foreign Motors West, Natick,Ma. at 508-655-5350 ext.327.
Mark researched this for me and provided this information.
