Phil:

Yes, I did consider the 95-525 and have been test driving both stick and automatic since May 98. I don't have a problem with the fewer hp, but didn't like the luxuary feel... I know it's luxuary a car but I think the suspension was just too soft or loose. I didn't notice that with the 535s plus the power impressed me. The 535 IMHO has the best of everything: Same looks, more power, solid engine, lower cost, lower insurance too. I figured I could get a real clean 535 for about $15-17K and with the money I save, I can put in upgrades or repairs.
I have located some companies willing to sell me an extended warranty for a 535 with 50k, 60k and even 86K miles.
The prices for 525i's in CA (with 30K-50K miles)are in the high $20K range.
I am not totally against the 525 idea but the price will have to attractive.

Thanks,

///MJ

: Just my 2 cents. I recently bought a 95 525i stick (with only 15k miles) loaded (ASC, CD, OBC, Lux. pkge) with over a year left on the warranty. Range on 95 pxing is 25-30k so this may be a viable alternative and would still be warranteed. This model is pretty much trouble free (fingers crossed/knock on wood and all that) and I find it a well balanced
: car that is great fun to drive with easy/low maintenance.
: Did you consider this model?
: Good luck
