I have been through 2 driver's schools (3rd coming in November) in my 95 540iA. No problems at all. Car was absolutely rock solid. I did wear the outside of my left front tire (Michelin Pilots) a little, but I was at Roebling Road near Savannah in August and the track air temp was 117 Deg! You NEED to take your car on the track. I think you will find that you really made an excellent purchase.

: So, you track your car? I am considering taking
: my M540i to the track in november. I was going
: to let the wife drive it in one of the beginner
: groups. I would drive my IT Scirocco in the
: instructor group, but take the 540 out for a few
: "fun runs" ;-). I know the car will be awesome
: on track, but I am a bit concerned about flogging
: it too much. What has been your experience with
: taking your car to the track? How hard is it on
: brakes/tires/other stuff?
: Thanks,
: Arthur
: : EDC III is about as close to an active suspension system as you're going to find. Per the previous poster's description, the car does react immediately to changes in road harshness as well as your driving enthusiasm.

: : On the track, I set the switch to S(port) and make sure my kidney belt is fastened. Subjectively, it's about as stiff as the Dinan Stage II.
