That clarifies things. Thanks for the info.
I'm curious, what do you have on your car that
makes it an M540i?
: Your 1995 540i Sport is the limited edition car, be it 6-spd or automatic. The regular 540i 6-spd was referred to as the 540is by some owners however BMW did not use that name on this model. I can see how it gets confusing as the 6-spd comes with the M-technic suspension while the Sport comes with the M5 EDC suspension.
: Also, BMW started calling the E39 6-spd the 540i Sport so that confuses the matter even more, especially since it isn't a limited edition and doesn't have any M-goodies (no insult to E39 6-spd owners intended).
: I was also told that the '95 540i Sport wasn't just called an M540i (like my car) because it didn't have enough M-content. Apparently, M5 suspension, body package, wheels and badging don't qualify.
: As for brake pads, although your rotors are 12.8" rather than 12.4", the calipers are the same as the regular 540i so there isn't any difference in pad sizing. For the Euro M5, only the factory Textar pads are available (ask me how I know). These dust like crazy but they don't fade at all.
