I think torque is for low end (acceleration), and HP is for high speed. So a good balance of torque/HP is ideal. Like the 4.4 Liter V8 in the 540. It has 282HP and 310lb of torque. 0-60 time for the 6 speed is 5.5 sec. and a limited top speed of 155MPH. But gear ratio setting is also important. IMHO.
