I agree that speaker level inputs are adequate for the sub. I worried about the impact of adding another impedance load to the BMW amp. The sub amp will be seen as another set of "speakers" by the BMW amp. Since I don't know anything about the amplifier I was conservative. I also wanted to have as little impact on the factory system as possible.
As far as integration, there was very little required. Speaker inputs were taken directly from the rear deck speakers, power form the battery.
I used the power lead to the CD changer as the control power for the amp. That way the amp was only on when the stereo is on. Also, The Rockford amp has a nice feature i cutting the output for acouple seconds following power-up. this eliminates the loud "THUMP" from the sub when the amp powers up. As I said, the install was relatively straight forward. the hard part was the box, which I had built for me. It is VERY shallow, so it doesn't intrude much into the trunk
Hope this helps

: Please tell us about your system and the degree to which you were able to integrate it with factory electronics and harnesses.
: Incidentally, I agree that an amplifier getting signal from an adapter will be amplifying a clipped signal at "high" volumes. However, I am not at all convinced that this is likely to cause a significant loss in sound quality if this technique is used to amplify only sub-bass. Sure there's nothing like a perfect signal source and amplified signal. But I think that in view of real world constraints (such as expense and maintainting the cars functional and cosmetic integrity)amplifying the amplified signal sounds like a very reasonable approach. I may try it if I ever get my car back from the dealer.
