: it's called the Ultimate Driving Machine, not the Ultimate Well-Assembled Machine. The amount you pay for a German car is NOT directly proportional to the quality of assembly. This is the tradeoff you make for an awesome driving experience.

: If you really need that tomblike quiet, you need a Japanese car, this is where they excel. Got to give props where they are due. But as far as fun to drive, well then ......

: : My last 5 ('90 535) had "loose" rear doors from day one. The dealer was successful in tightening them up, and it never caused further problems. My newest '99 seems to be developing similar symptoms, but admittedly not as severe, on the driver's door. I also have "soft" noises...like flexing or creaking of interior panels,,,,very subdued, but there nonetheless. Anybody else have any experience with (door?) rattles on sport equipped 540's? At $60K, they should be perfect.

Pfhred...
This is my 4th BMW. I think I get the point of why the UDM, but.... C'mon...look at the list of people with this problem. BMW should get the simple stuff like this straight out of the shoot for their own good..
