E39 Resonance noise (archive)

I have a resonance noise somewhere in the rear lower part of my E39. The noise is clear and distinct when it occurs. It is like some fairly large plastic or metal plate is vibrating.

It occurs;
- only at 2000 rpm
- only in right curves (no sharp curve is needed)
- only at light to moderate engine load
- at any speed and gear
- at any temperature of the car
- with any level of fuel at the tank

I have tried to provoke the noise to occur with the car standing still tilting to the left in a slope, but without success.

Can anyone provide some hints on what this might be?
