This is the same setup as the NEW E46.

there is a Bulletin for the E46, which is a CHECK list, and can be used with the E39. Fill it our, hand it to the service guys and they can set thing as you want.

The "chirp" option is the first item. ALSo this KEY specific, one key will and the other will not chirp.
