You are absolutely right that the 528 has better steering. It inspires a bit more confidence in tight manuevers and it's just a bit easier to control slides when the traction control is turned off. However, the extra torque/power of the v-8 really allows you to exploit the chassis of the car better. The E39 is very easy to steer with the throttle but the 528 lacks the grunt to make it dance. I have a 540 6sd., my wife a 528. Fact is you can't go wrong with either car..the choice is this...Save $10,000 have sharper steering or spend the money, have slightly more vague (you still very good) steering and find yourself giggling a lot.
