Thanks for the input. You mentioned using a sub box in the trunk in lieu of the existing subs. I took that route, installed a sub box equipped w/ two 12" subs and powered it via a 2x40w Amp. I rigged the RCA input jacks to terminate at the amp and quick connectors joined between the amp and battery's terminal blocks mounted on the rear fenderwell. The amp is mounted on top of the subbox. This allows me to remove the entire sub box when I need trunk space or when I go on a trip. Takes all of 20 seconds to install/remove.
I am more than satisfied with the results.
