: I am looking to purchase another BMW but the problem I am having is "WHICH ONE" to buy. Can anyone provide me with information about the 528 Sport. Why is it considered a Sport? What are the options? Is it really worth it or should I just purchase a base 540ia?
: Very confused, please help.

I have the 528i (Sport Package). I have test driven the 540ia (Non-Sport) and the 740i (Sport Package). Both have recirculating ball steering. The rack and pinion steering (R&P) of the 528i was borrowed from the M3. R&P steering is more precise and makes the 528i more fun to drive. However, it requires a little more steering effort. I was not seduced by the brute strength of the V8 - it is too powerful for city streets. I traded in a 94 Camaro Z-28 for this reason. The aceleration of the 528i is brisk and the throttle is slightly more responsive than either the 540ia or the new 328ia, which I also test drove. As far as the Sport package. I don't like it. The car rides too low over the ground. This is a problem when I'm carrying passengers. The front of the car has been damaged from hitting parking blocks and curbs. I recommend the regular suspension. If you want a sport car, get a Porsche 911 or M3. If you want a sport sedan, get a 528i Premium package.
