Jon Shafer at Cutter in Santa Barbara is excellent as well as active on this board.

Terry York BMW in Valencia is excellent too. Got a no-nonsense deal and was treated very well. Talk to Ron Fernandez. Tell him Augie sent you via the internet.

Nick Alexander downtown will offer to pick up your car and deliver you a loaner for scheduled service. They also seem to do big volume.

Pacific in Glendale has bargain prices on CD changers...around $400 for some reason.

Dealers to avoid: Bob Smith is a bunch of Bozos that lost my order for a new car and then couldn't bring themselves to return repeated phone calls. Beverly Hills BMW is a very shady operation with questionable pricing practices and mediocre salespeople. I'm sure others have had better experiences at those dealers but that's my experience.

For the record, I complained in writing to corporate BMW about these two dealers and got no response.

You are in a much better bargaining position buying a car in a dealers inventory so shop around. Expect to pay $1500 over invoice plus $400 Maco fee (except at Cutter). Have them throw in mats and tint.

Good luck!
