: How's the 540i in the snow? I just bought a 1999 540i sport w/6 spd and was wondering what the best way to handle the snow was. How's the handling with snow tires? I've heard (from only one source) that even with snows the 540i doesn't handle that well. I have a line on a set of used rims and snows (Dunlops) and was looking for input. Thanks.

My 97 540i/A has been great for the ast 2 winters. I have a set of the BMW winter wheels (4 alloy's with Pirelli winter tires.)

Good in snow, ice, and wet roads. And not too noisy on dry. Really like them.

BUT - if you get stuck in snow you have to turn the ASC/DSC "OFF" in order to get the wheels turning enough to pull you out.
