Yes, I am having the same problem. It happened on my buddy's 540 as well and he has the Dinan cold air intake and software.

A fellow message board memeber said his dead spot went away after his dealer replaced the catalyic. I personally don't understand why a bad cat will cause a dead spot between a particular rpm band(4-5k in our case).

I have dyno graphs of my car and my buddy(with the Dinan cold air intake) that illustrate this dead spot. Let's bring this to BMW NA attention as a group. Does anyone have time to be the orgainizer for this?

: I was just wondering if everyone see the big powerband HP/Torque loss from 4k to 5k rpm.
: It is alsmost sombody is hitting the brakes. My 540i 6sp has 18k miles now.
: Anbody played with chips and cold air intake, did this problem go away.I have heard the power band is not nice and flat, would like to make it that way.
