After I had my clear fronts installed (I've got xenons as well), the mechanic told me that it had been a very time-consuming job. Actually, the guy was honest enough to tell me that when he opened the assemblies, he noticed that two of the original clips were broken. He re-used the broken clips on the clear lens installation, but ordered new ones. When the new clips came in, I saw for myself what a pain it is to remove and replace the headlamp assemblies. The area of the hood immediately behind the headlamps is pretty tightly packed which makes it is very difficult to put those units back together.

Accordingly, I suspect that you're being given an excuse. A lazy mechanic who has done the job before may not feel like doing it again.

Hope everything works out.

David S.
