Car Held at VPC. Why? (archive)

I need a reality check.

My car arrived at the VPC on 11/27. I know (from monitoring the E46 board) that cars offloaded at the same time and place began arriving at southern California dealers as early as 12/1. I figured my car would arrive in the pacific northwest by 12/9 or so. Wrong.

I called my dealer yesterday and was told that my car won't be released until 12/10, after which it will make its trek to the dealer. I was told that the "report" doesn't list the reason for the delay. This is a European delivery, in case that makes a difference.

Until proven otherwise, I trust my dealer. But he wasn't especially informative or helpful. (He speculated that catalytic converters need to be added, which I strongly doubt.) Is there more information available to him that I should demand? Does it invariably take two weeks to process a Euro delivery?

Many thanks.

Marc
