Look in your Yellow Pages for a Douglas Battery dealer. Douglas is a NC based company that makes all the batteries BMW and Porsche sell in NA and will sell one to you for about 30% of the dealer's price! They have an exact replacement for yours, and if you're into DIY, you can replace it yourself. I swapped out the battery in my wife's E34 in the dealer's parking lot in about 10 min - he even lent me his "keep alive" adapter (plugs into the cigarette lighter, provides a 12 vdc supply to keep your radio, etc. from resetting). The exact replacement for the 525i was $70.00. I opted for a higher CCA unit for an additional $10.00.

If you can find a Douglas dealer, this is the ultimate "no brainer".
