Hi everyone,

There is a custom shop in my city that has done some work on my car. While I was there one time they showed me their newest gadget: A rear view mirror integrated V1 display. Somehow, I don't know how they do it, they mount the V1 information screen on the corner of the rear view mirror.

This is the coolest thing I have seen in ages. I asked them how much they wanted for installation and they said about $3000!! Now these guys charge $100 an hour and do some crazy things to cars but that is a rediculous price for a radar detector install.

So what I am asking of you my fellow 5 series owners is to go to their website:, take a look and try to figure out how they do this. I know where they mount their V1 and the control nob but I have no idea how they get the info screen into the mirror.

I know there are plenty of people on this board who are much better at technical things than I am, maybe you can figure it out. If we can figure this out this would be one of the hottest mods any of us could get, it is really cool if you see it in person.

If no pictures show up try using internt explorer, never works with netscape.

Crossing his fingers on this,

: I find the Valnetine windshield mount to be next to useless. Getting it to adhere reliably is tough. I'd leave it on if I could, but I don't want to leave the V1 out in plain site while parked, and the V1 cannot easily be removed from the bracket without knocking it off the windshield. (All this is true even with new suction cups.)

: The sun visor mount is okay, except that it disables the sun visor!

: So I want to a way to (1) attach the windshield mount semi-permanently, or to (2) find and alternative mount. Along the lines of (1): Anybody find an adhesive useful with the suction cups? In category (2): A couple of weeks ago, NKB posted a message about using a Radio Shack bracket to mount his V1 to the windshield. The posting appears not to made it into the archives, so I cannot refer to it directly.
: What is the Radio Shack product that was used?

: Thanks to all.
