I installed a skibag into my 528i myself and it didn't require any "special" armrest - not sure if the 7 series are the same way but I definitely didn't need to switch out any part of the seat. Just cut a hole in the metal and pop in the ski bag.

: I just wanted to post a warning to all of you who may be considering the dealer installed ski bag for your car. I brought my car into the dealer to have the bag installed - quoted $400 for the bag ($250) plus labor for approx 2 hours. I later got a call from the service manager, he told me that a special rear armrest would need to be ordered to fit the ski bag assembly, the cost for that part was $700.00. It would cost over $1100.00 to have a ski bag installed in the car!
: BMW should really consider updating it's catalog to mention these little things !
: In case your wondering, I decided to pass on the bag install...

: Regards,

: John
