We must all live in California. Seems government puts money into the wrong enforcement efforts.
Here in San Francisco, where parking is at a premium, the DPT has a $90M revenue each year for parking enforcement. The last I heard, there is only parking for 75% of the cars registered in the city which means 25% of us get a ticket every single day! Yet, every day I play chicken with cars running red lights, weather on foot, in my car, or on my motorcycle. Parking at an expired meter is obviously more dangerous than running red lights, so the red light running goes unenforced. Believe you me, if DPT started stopping every red light/stop sign runner in this city the revenue would go up and the problem would go away. Imagine a fleet of cops blocking traffic at every intersection as they ticket rl runners. The message would get out quickly, but instead the message is "just do it, you'll get away with it" - until you kill someone in a crosswalk.
I'd love to see people ticketed for driving below the average speed in any lane other than the far right, and any vehicle that causes a backup of vehicles in the passing lane for going too slow should be ticketed heavily. Don't even ask me what I think should happen to people that don't use turn signals or double park during heavy commute times. It should be as bad as driving under the influence!
I'm all for an Autobahn lane on our freeways. Minimum vehicle requirement and special driving skills test should weed out the '72 pickups hauling piles of cardboard in the left lane.
It's too damn bad the climate is so great out here. The driving absolutely sucks! This is why I didn't get a 540i6. If I had 282hp under my right foot and I spent all my time under 30mph, I'd be one pissed off dude. As it is I do this in my 528i, and that doesn't make me too happy either.
It ain't gonna get any better. Maybe I'll get a helicopter for my next vehicle...

: I was wondering, what is the general concensus on this board? Do you feel that speed limits are enforced for safety reasons or for $$$$$ reasons?
