: : I am considering the purchase of a certified pre-owned 528iA
: : ('97 or '98 model). I would appreciate comments from anyone who has done the same. What has been your experience with the car and dealer (good or bad), problems, etc....

: Don't know where you are located, but here in the SF Bay area - used 528i cars are somewhat available, but 5 speed sticks are very few and far between. The other thing I noticed when I surveyed availability in August and again last month, is that those available are generally priced not that far from new and often have some pretty good miles on them. You may find the same in your area, and if so, it may be worth thinking about how to "squeeze the gap" and just get a new one for not a whole lot more and with the full warranty that covers all manintenance for 3 years and includes a number of features as standard that were extra cost options in '97/8.
