If you've a choice between '97 or '98, needless to say, you are much better off investing in the '98. Nearly all of the initial bugs have been ironed out. The '98 offers quite a bit more performance, safety, and overall build quality than any other years thereafter.

0-60 in '97 No VaNos is 7.8 sec w/ manual.
0-60 in '98 w/ VaNos is 7.0 secs w/ manual.
0-60 in '99 w/ Dbl Vanos is 7.0 sec w/ manual.

In '98 you get that awesome SPORT PKG, head protection airbags, free maintenance, door anchor system, rear air bags, rear sun shades - and depending on how later of the '98 yr the build date is - HID, NAV.

: I am considering the purchase of a certified pre-owned 528iA
: ('97 or '98 model). I would appreciate comments from anyone who has done the same. What has been your experience with the car and dealer (good or bad), problems, etc....
