: : According to the Circle BMW web site -- the new StarTac phones ARE dual mode digital/analog.

: : : : The entire At&T system in the usa is TDMA, thus buying the TDMA version will make the phone work in anywhere usa..
: : : I e-mailed Circle BMW concerning use of either of their phones and their response was that I would NOT be able to use the TDMA phone with AT&T's one rate plan, since it requires a dual band phone. AT&T's web site is very specific that ALL of their phones are dual band. The StarTAC that just came out for AT&T (November), is a dual band, and prior to that, there were no StarTac's for AT&T Wireless (even know they existed for Bell Atlantic. I've e-mailed AT&T and am waiting on a response, but they usually take forever and I'm sure I'll get a convoluted answer from them as well. Seems that nobody can answer this one with any level of certinty.

: Like I said, nobody can give a straight answer on this subject. The response from Circle BMW, was that neither of these phones will work with AT&T's digital one rate plan. The reason was that the phone wasn't dual band. I believe that my Ericsson is TRI-BAND. That might be a requirement for AT&T? My question to AT&T is, will this phone work at all on their network? I could care less about the digital one rate 'plan', I dont' even subscribe to that plan, I have a straight 200 minute plan with AT&T. What I don't want is to spend a thousand bucks on a phone to find out that it is not as capable as the LX-788 that I have now.
