I too was interested in comparing these vehicles as well as th MB CLK320. I drove all 3 cars atleast twice. I was lucky enough to have the Susan B Konan drive for a cure in my hometown. That allowed me to drive the entire line of BMW's.
BMW 528i - SOLID as you can get. Even more than the MB. It seems that the car adjusts to you and allows you the most unbelievable "FEEL" of any car in this trio. It is the quietest car of the 3. It has a smooth feel of power throughout the entire band, I was lucky enough to be in my girlfriends car on the highway going 110mph. It honestly doesn't feel like 70mph's. The car hunkers down and feels like it is on rails. Contrary to others her stereo and the test car sound above average although leave something to be desired. Cupholders suck... but you can buy narrow cups that work OK. As for Cold Weather Pkg. - it's is not available with the Sport pkg. You can only get heated seats. the Sport pkg. uses the M sport steering wheel that isn't able to be heated. The seats are the best out there.
GS300 - Great car but the best way to describe it is it feels like a really good MAXIMA or Camry. The engine has a high pitched whine and every sensation in the car feels to muted and there is very little road response. The interior is very nice. Stereo is great and reliability is top notch. Just totally different inpression when you sit in the drivers seat and drive them all on the highway.
You must go for decent test drives. Cost can become an issue. The BMW will be more expensive. I think it's worth it. My 528i will be here in about 30 - 40 days.
: Trying to decide which car to purchase. Can anyone shed some light on this subject? When comparing the two what are the pros and cons? I have not driven nor sat in the cars, so what do you think my initial impression would be as soon as I sit and test drive each one of these cars?
