I have the opposite situation. I washed my car a couple weeks ago with the alarm engaged (didn't realize it at the time) and it never made a sound. Considering I was bumping and jiggling the car pretty vigorously, especially cleaning the wheels, under the wipers, etc., I expected it would have gone off or sounded a warning. Is this normal or is the sensitivity set too low? Comments?

Short story - A police friend of mine showed me how he could set off car alarms keying up his mike in a shopping center parking lot. It was pretty funny at the time. Maybe a few of you guys (or gals) can explain....

: Are you using a non BMW cell phone around it. I have hear that this can cause that to happen.

: Arland...

: : Friends: I have a 97 540iA, love it- its a great car, but fairly often it will sound the security alarm on its own, and apparently for no reason.
: : Any ideas on how to set the sensitivity?
