I agree with you completely. I didn't get a 540 hoping that nothing would go wrong with it. I know that BMWs have quality issues, and THAT IS OKAY. Because the reason i love bimmers is for their handling, performance and styling.

If it was only quality i was after, i'd be driving an LS400. And please don't anyone mention the GS400 - i've driven them, and to me they don't hold a candle, handling wise, to the 5 series.

: Don't get me wrong, I drive a M3. But I can face up to the fact that Toyota/Lexus makes awesome cars. Many aspects of Toyotas/Lexi are much better made than BMWs. Most people on this board can't stand the fact that the car they're driving has many faults.

: : This is one argument i've never understood, and I've heard it a lot.

: : Would people be happy with lexus if they were fabricated entirely separately from toyotas, not sharing any parts in common? If so, why?

: : Toyotas are excellent cars, better built than BMWs in many respects.

: : Platform sharing does not inherently make a Lexus less of a luxury car. If the problem is with inferior quality, that is another matter.

: : : I bought my '97 BMW even looked at a Lexus. I did look at a MB (E320) as the saying above also applies to that car IMO. I have always said when my time comes to be able to afford a true luxury car thats the way I would go. Having said that, I also believe in not shoving my personal opinions on others. Your ability to be able to even make such a selection tells me you are probably a decerning customer and successful at what ever you do. In the end you have to ride in the car. Good luck and keep us informed on your results regardless of your decision BMW?, Lexus/Toyota?, there I go again.....

: : : Good Luck

: : : : Trying to decide which car to purchase. Can anyone shed some light on this subject? When comparing the two what are the pros and cons? I have not driven nor sat in the cars, so what do you think my initial impression would be as soon as I sit and test drive each one of these cars?
