I picked up my Cosmos Black/Black Y2K 540 in mid Dec. Since then I have only had the chance to wash it twice (still pretty good living in Chicago).
IMHO, this color doesn't show nearly as many scratches and imperfections as Jet Black.
A comment was made on the board recently by someone who had just picked up a Jet Black 540 and he basically said, "I know it will never look this good again". Summing it up, I think that Jet Black will show EVERYTHING, while you have some leeway with Cosmos.
Plus Cosmos has a tinge of blue to it which is kinda cool!
On the other hand, (at least with the Cosmos Black on M3s), a couple of people have said that it never really looks clean.
I would personally stick to black interior too - With the sunroof shade open, the car is not as dark inside as some would lead you to believe. Plus, it doesn't show dirt like the Tan and Gray.
I didn't have a choice of colors on my 540ia and had forgotten that Cosmos Black had become available on the 5-series - so I was excited to get it. It still it would have been my second choice (right after Anthracite and right before the Biarritz Blue).
Let me know if you have any other questions or want to see a picture (not a good one, but still....)
