: The bottom line is you get what you
: pay for. I have practically every Dinan
: option available for my '97 540iA and I
: am happy as a pig in SH$%! This does not
: imply that other cheaper companies are not
: as good, but most of them are crap!

: : : Andrew:

: : : If you really want this car to rock...go for
: : : the Dinan upgrades.

: : : '97 540iA with
: : : practically Dinan everything

: : : : Last weekend I stopped into one of my local dealers with a friend who was looking for a new car. (Mistake number 1) They had a 98 540/6spd on the floor and I started drooling. Upon talking to the salesman I found out that they had just received a 97 540i/6spd on trade...with 4000 miles (not a typo). I managed to control myself and leave the dealer without the car. That evening, much to my surprise, my fiance instructed me to buy the car (after all she's the boss). The next day I traded in my E34 540 and drove away in my new baby.

: : : : The car was in for the CPO checkup, but didn't make it in for the required service before I took it off the lot. I'm not sure what they have on their list, but I'm told that it's minor. Since the milage is low and the car probably didn't go in for service a couple of times a year as most do what should I be sure that the dealer does to this car?

: : : : This is what I've come up with:

: : : : -Fluid flush (brakes,PS,coolant) - 2 year interval
: : : : -Oil Change
: : : : -Door seal replacement (just starting to squeak)

: : : : What else should I ensure happens? I know that there are a number of software updates. Is there a list anywhere that shows all of them and what they do?

: : : : Thanks in advance,
: : : : -Andrew

: : : : PS. The car is sweet...cosmos black (special order that year) w/ grey interior. Immaculate condition.

wanting 25K over invoice for M5. But Dinan is
doing exactly the same to you guys: "extensive research and development" and crap like this. Where is the result ? Some pathetic 20 h.p. with high flow cold ait intake for $1000 dollars. Have you seen the intake ? $40 K&N filter with $50-60 worth of piping. How long do you think it takes to make a prototype in a well equipped shop ? ONE FRICKING DAY. (I took me a day to make a prototype for Alfa out of plasic tubing and then bring it to the shop to make it out of aluminum pipes for $150). Give me a brake. Dinan as crooked as any other dealer you might have complaints about.
