Bob H's has got it - the Civic raced you because he thought that he could beat you and brag about it. So you lost - BFD. Why? You still have a fine piece of machinery that you can be proud of. A Civic is Civic is a Civic, no matter how you mod it. It's a great utilitarian, spartan piece of A to B transport but nothing else - kind of like a good washing machine - it gets the job done well but you can't really be proud of one (even the Maytag Neptunes). I once knew someone who had a Civic, gutted it, put an Acura 1.8L DOHC VTEC motor in it and then put a turbo kit on top of that. The first run without tuning and low boost was 13.2 (I forgot the speed). After running higher boost and racing wheels/tires, he was deep into the 12's - and this car was really streetable - despite the complete lack of sound deadening. Still, it's a Civic. Who cars. Don't take your defeat out on your car and start modding it so that it can take out hopped up Civics and the like. Besides, there will always be someone faster out there. Oh well.
