: Wow!! time flies, I've got less than 2 weeks togo to meet my 540ia out in Munich. .... YES!!! I am very anxious.

: I will be arriving at "Munchen" at Feb 13 from LAX.

: Based on this boards advice, I will be staying at Hotel Jederman in Munich. Will be staying there for the first two days, and the rest depends on the weather.

: Ideally, I would like to go to Stutgart to see some Mercedes and Porschs. I would also like to goto Salzburg and Innsbruck, by my understanding is that, to get to these places, I would have to drive thru the Alps. If so, i don't think I want to drive my new car in middle of nowhere, in deep snow.

: Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated.

You may encounter snow anywhere in Southern Germany. Yes, you will drive through lower sections of the Alps to get to Austria. Don't worry about it and have fun. The roads are usually in great shape through this area.

I don't think you will see anymore Mercedes and Porsches in Stuttgart than you would by walking two miles east of Neiderlassung to the respective Munich dealerships. I wouldn't take the drive to Stuttgart just for this reason. Drive the Romantic road and the roads that follow the Rhine river north to Cologne (Koln). Much nicer than the boring Autobahn drive to Stuttgart!

My best advice is to take your time to see the smaller cities in Bavaria versus chasing the larger cities. After seeing one or two they look very similar to any large city in the US. Most important, have fun.
