I'm just over 6' and like to sit up straight. Also I have all my hair and in an E39 my hair touches the moonroof when I sit up straight.

Also my back aches after sitting for long periods--and so I ordered a 528i 5sp without the moonroof for more headroom and the comfort seat. It is as comfortable a car for long trips as I've been in. Also I figure that the solid roof is safer in case of an accident and that it is quieter in terms of wind noise at highway speeds.

The only way to make it better would be if the comfort seats were available in cloth rather than leather--BMW are you listening out there?

: Last week, I picked up a 1997 528i - I absolutely love the car! However, I've been getting some back pain when I drive it. I have a history of lower back problems and am a bit tall - 6' 1". The car does not have a comfort seat and I can't tell if it's the seating position, the vibrations or the lack of lumbar support that's causing the problem. The seat is a bit lower than what I'm used to and the car also has a moonroof (does this decrease the headroom?) Has anybody run into this problem and if so, were you able to solve it?

: Bill
