You probably cannot do the rear on the US version of the E39 Touring. This model does not have a separate amber-color turn indicator at the rear, but instead two separate lighting cells act together as the brake and turn signals. The reason I was told by a BMW NA rep was that the "normal" turn signal cell (top) was deemed too small in area by the US DOT and BMW had to reconfigure the wiring to have two cells act together. Thus the car has a different wiring harness from the Euro models.
