I have a similar setup in my garage & yes, the microwave sets off the motion detector. I ended up leaving the alarm disabled when it's in the garage.

On a similar note, I have a Nokia 6100 mobile phone that does the same thing when it's left on in the car. It's not a factory phone (from AT&T), but I always have to remember to shut if off before activating the alarm.

: I've been getting false alarms as my '97 528i sits in the garage - which seems to coincide with running the microwave oven in the adjoining kitchen. I assume it's setting off the motion detector in the car. There is probably about 20 feet separating the microwave and the car (as well as a sheet rock wall with a metal door). Has anyone had a similar experience? I can probably live with the false alarms although switching to an ultrasound detector might fix the problem. My bigger concern is the microwave. Should I have it checked for leaks or is the detector that sensitive?
