Here's a previous post of mine on LoJack--

Before I took delivery of my '00 528i earlier this month, I asked the dealer and others about LoJack. The dealer said most people don't get it installed and that he did not recommend it. There's no need. None of the other BMW owners I talked with had LoJack installed, with the universal comment being "it's impossible to drive the car away without the specially programmed key."

I recommend you talk to the dealer for details on how the anti-theft system works. It's pretty comprehensive: loud (!) alarm for doors, trunk, hood, tilt, internal motion sensing, etc. and continuous random changing code between engine/starting circuitry and keys.

IMHO, LoJack will only help you recover the car if someone makes off with it; it won't prevent a thief from doing so. Are you going to recover the car before it's in pieces? Will you really want it back then? Hope this helps.

Hello,

: Just bought a 528i for my parents (their money, I love them but don't have the means...yet) Anyhow, Oxford green, black leather, moonroof, premium package, split seats, cold weather package, and yes the Nav. System. Anyhow, my questions are the following

: 1. What do people think about LoJack? My dealer is charging 495 installed? Yes? No? Opinions appreciated.

: 2. Autobond, that clear protector they put on certain part of the car to protect the paint from chips: Any opinions? Worth it?

: Thanks for your input.

: Bennett

: PS: How long does delivery take on a custom ordered 528?
