I followed the same logic you did regarding a local dealer and gave the business to him. I got a '00 528i titanium/black with premium package, cold weather, steptronic, moonroof and trunk-mounted 6-CD changer for $2000 over invoice ($43,770 total). This deal was better than any pricing I could find on the web and consistent with what I think most 5-series' are going for. My credit union said most people were paying $2000 - $3000 over invoice, depending on the market; NY and CA on the higher end, midwest on the lower end, everywhere else in the mid-range. Sounds like you live in CA so you probably did OK.
Hello, I thought I would share my order of a 528i and how much I am going to pay. What I ordered: 528i White/black w/5 speed, sport package, Xenons, electric seats, leather, split rear seats. After pricing the car online and with Cutter BMW, I decided to offer my local dealer a chance to sell me the car. I ended going with the local dealer for $2600 ( 6.4% OI; $43,380 total) over invoice with the dealer agreeing to buy me a roof rack ($230). I know I could have paid a little less ($300-$500) but I am thinking that I might get a little better service from the local dealer since I bought the car from him. Will have to see on that one, as in general I do not trust most mechanics (sorry to all the honest, ethical mechanics out there.)I feel like I got a fair deal. How much did you pay for your similar 528i?
: P.S. I wish I lived closer to Cutter BMW in Santa Barbara as they seem like a super dealer and immediatly responded to my request for a quotation on this car. If it is convenient for you to order a car from them I would say go for it!
