One of my friend has '96 Maxima SE that I get to drive once in a while, and you are correct, and Maxima feels quicker. However, Maxima is not that much quicker. It's the handling characterictics that deceives your perception. If you do 80MPH in Maxima, you will feel like you are doing 80MPH. But if you do 80MPH in 528i, you will swear that you are doing only 50MPH.

: I am upgrading from a '95 Nissan Maxima. I drove the 528 and it seemed sluggish (my Maxima is quicker). For that reason I just order a 00 540iA Sport. I guess it depends what you are used to.
