Perhaps a good way to start may be to go to bmwusa.com, contact a few dealerships in your area. Based upon both their willingness to simply respond and then provide you with information you ought be able to judge the level of service you might receive in the future.
I say dealer direct is better simply because they are ultimately the source of the information you require to insure a desireable result; Good price / good service.
