540ia sport v. 740ia sport (archive)

I currently have a 540ia sport on order for a May delivery. Today I went to the dealer to check in my choice of seats (sport or comfort). When I was there, I saw a new 740i sport in the exact color and with the exact options that I want. The key is I can have the 740 now, and must wait for the 540 until late May. I like the now part. I also like the rear passenger leg room.

I know these are two very different cars, but I am looking for opinions from people who have driven both as to the relative pros and cons of each.
