: I'm actually quite partial to that cold, indifferent, massive look m'self. 2 family friends owned 'em. Perfect for parents' generation.

: Caveat: all comments are based on these friends' experience. NOTHING - and I mean NOTHING - went wrong with those behemoths. The build quality, engineering, materials and strength of those tanks was something else - dunno if MB will ever be able to match that again. From repair/maintenance viewpoint, so long as you took it in for scheduled maintenance, you were fine. From safety viewpoint, they weighed 2 tons, were built like tanks and had a fair number of safety features - meaning (since effects of crash are pushed into the lighter car and they were carefully designed/built ) you're relatively well protected from anything this side of a Suburban/M1Abrams.

: Note: there was one recurring cost though. Expect to replace the hood ornament regularly. :) No one except you likes them :). You'd be amazed how petty some country club members can be. :)

: Good luck,
: J.
