If Jaguar's experience is any indication, BMWs would now be built on Ford chassis to save money as the new S-Type is. That is ok with a Jag which wasn't much of a car to start with but it will take the heart right out of a BMW. It'l become nothing more than a rebadged Lincoln LS. Quality will improve, which BMW severely needs, but it won't be a BMW any more.
