Wow, didn't know that the DSC actually slow the car down, but that all makes sense...

Thanks for the tip, can't wait to take my 540 to the track.

: You must get your own car on the track (when it arrives). Took my 540i/6 to an autocross event today: 50, 52, and 49 seconds. Did the first run with DSC on. Power sucked out of the tight turns because DSC was trying to save my ass. The next run I turned DSC off and squirrelled my way around the track. Way too much power!! I did my last lap without DSC, but with an eye towards BRAKE first, then TURN and POWER. Much better time, but should have done even better. M3s were turning low to mid 40-second times.
