Assuming it's PC readable, it's likely that you can make a working copy or two as backup. BTW, making a single backup of computer software is legal (US) so I'd imagine you wouldn't have any legal isses with the NAV CD.

Make sure you back it up to CDR, not CDRW, as the latter is probably not readable by the NAV unit.

: Just in case anyone was wondering, it is possible to copy the NAV CD and use the duplicate. Apparently the file format on the NAV CD is PC readable... very useful if the car ever has to leave your hands (I.E. service). It's highly unlikely someone would yank the nav CD but stranger things have happened, and I'd rather have MINE locked up... they can steal the dupes all they want.
