Ford bought Jaguar in 1990! Long before the DEW 98 project was even conceived.

: : The Lincoln LS / Jaguar "S" paltform was a JOINT effort between Jaguar Engineering in the UK and dearborn.
: The Ford DEW98 project (the LS) was well along and test mules were on the road before Ford bought Jaguar. It was designed as a replacement for the Ford Scorpio/Granada. Jag came into the program later.
: From a technical-content standpoint, the LS is very impressive - better in some ways than the E39. Rack-and-pinion steering, upper/lower arm front suspension w/tall forged-aluminum spindle, etc.
: Material quality isn't up to BMW spec, but then neither is the Jag S-type (and IMO, hard plastic console aside, the LS interior is a good bit nicer than the Jag.)
