Actually this is confusing but has been covered here before--I believe by the venerable Jim Cash. The bottom line is that the seat memory that is programmed into the buttons on the driver's side door are separate from the memory activated by the key use. When a different key is used to unlock the car, the settings last in place when that key was previously used will be recalled.
I do think the key memory feature does need to be activated by the dealer but also found that its not as intuative as its billed.
