: I would start by doing some adjustments yourself and seeing how you like it, before assuming that the dealer will have to adjust it. I think that the DSP is great in my 2000 528i with the following settings. First, set the bass and treble (to the left of the tape deck area) all the way to max. Second, set the echo to the low end, perhaps 1 or 2 clicks. Third, set the room size to 1 or 2 clicks. Fourth, set the equalizer to a "V" configuration (low end and high end set to max, with gradual decrease to a null setting (not negative) once you reach the middle frequency. The actual settings for this have been posted here before.
: You could then set memory 1, 2, and 3 settings to represent increasing room size, or increasing echo, depending upon your preference. I don't find the preset options very useful ("cathedral" etc), but I think you will enjoy DSP with the suggestions listed here.
: If not, then you could pursue the dealer adjustment route. Someone else on this board can help with that.
: Good luck

: : Searched archives thoroughly and nada. Several people have had dealers adjust their DSP power&bass settings from "ave" to "max", apparently. I'm picking up new 528iA today and dealer has absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. Plus, he called the BMW Technical Hotline and was told that only '97 5 series models had dealer programmable DSP options.
: : Can people who have had this done, by their dealers, please give me the contact number for their dealers so that I can get more info on this?! Thanks.
