DB-25 connector near rear amp (archive)

Hi,

While taking a look at the amplifier in the back of the car I noticed that there is a DB-25 serial connector attached to some wire. Is this a connector for the BMW cell phone, or is it the interface the dealer uses to program definable options in the car? Would it be accessable via a 9600 serial connection, or does BMW have proprietary software?

Any feedback appreciated.
