The viscosity of the new oils may not break down but the reason you should change oil frequently is to keep the engine clean and remove debris. BMW wants you to blow a headgasket at 120K miles, they'll sell you a new car our outrageously priced parts. Just my opinion.
I'll change my oil every 3K.
: I hate the car buying experience, so I want a reliable car I can keep for 5-6 years at 25k per year. Many of the posts I read here and elsewhere imply that it may be smart to get out of the BMW before the warranty runs out. Great driving car, but not really built well enough to hold for a long time. Any thoughts appreciated... Thanks in advance.
