Hi,

Thanks for the prompt response. Are there any documents written on the DIS system that are accessable by the end user? (In other words, is it hopeless to hope to program the car without going through the dealer?)

: : Hi,

: : While taking a look at the amplifier in the back of the car I noticed that there is a DB-25 serial connector attached to some wire. Is this a connector for the BMW cell phone, or is it the interface the dealer uses to program definable options in the car? Would it be accessable via a 9600 serial connection, or does BMW have proprietary software?

: : Any feedback appreciated.

: As per your guess it is for the Cell Phone.

: All programing of various systems in the car is via the diagnostic connector in the engine compartment - only access is via the DIS system.
