: Does anyone know of any actual companies that offer converting German specs autos to US Specs? I have heard they exist but have no details.

Try looking in Southern California. There were a number of them there in the mid 1980s and may still be some in Orange County. Unfortunately, most went to jail for faking work . This didn't necessarily make the cars dangerous but rather caused problems with U. S. Customs when the DOT and EPA started going over the documentation (based on political pressure from Mercedes and BMW).
